THE BEST TIME AND DESTINATIONS FOR CYCLING HOLIDAYS IN JAPAN

What Ride Level to Expect

All of our tours are designed at a similar, relaxed level-leaving you plenty of time for a slow morning, a few emails, photo stops, and an onsen soak afterward. Izu has slightly more elevation, but e-bikes make it comfortable for most— or a gentle challenge for those who prefer it.

Which Destination to Choose

Kyushu: Volcanic scenery and green tea farms shape this southern route—ideal for return visitors seeking a deeper, upscale experience.

Shimanami: Japan's most iconic cycling route, known for island bridges and sea views. Especially enjoyable for families and relaxed riders.

Kyoto: Explore Kyoto, a UNESCO World Heritage city, and nearby Nara-must-see destinations for first-time travelers to Japan.

Izu Peninsula: A dynamic coastal ride with views of Mt. Fuji. Ideal for advanced cyclists or anyone riding with an e-bike.

Noto Peninsula: Quiet and well-preserved, this region feels deeply secluded and authentic. Ideal for those drawn to off-the-beaten-path charm.

What Season to Ride

Spring (Late February-June): Mild weather, cherry blossoms, vibrant new foliage, and snow-capped peaks make this a great time for cycling.

Summer (July-September): While midday heat can rise, only summer brings matsuri festivals, fireworks with street food, and glowing fireflies.

Fall (October-Early December): Fall brings rich colors, golden rice fields, and peak flavors from land and sea. Cooler days mean easier rides.
